Doha Transit & Visa Guide for India–Qatar Travellers
Visa and transit rules depend on passport, residence status, airline and itinerary. This guide helps you identify what to check before a Delhi–Doha or Mumbai–Doha booking; it is not a substitute for an official visa decision.
Transit at Hamad International Airport
Visit Qatar currently states that Qatar Airways passengers transiting at Hamad International Airport for at least six hours, who are not eligible for visa-free entry but want to take a Doha transit tour, can apply for a transit visa at the Discover Qatar Transit Desk, subject to terms and conditions.
If you remain airside and continue on an eligible through itinerary, your requirements may differ from a traveller who wants to enter Qatar, collect baggage or leave the airport. Always check your exact itinerary with the airline.
Entering Qatar
Qatar operates several visa and visa-free entry arrangements. Eligibility depends on nationality and other conditions. Visit Qatar directs travellers to its visa checker and Hayya platform for current requirements. Some travellers may need confirmed accommodation, onward or return travel, insurance or other documentation.
Because these rules can change and Indian passport holders may face different conditions depending on the trip, do not rely on a generic statement such as “visa on arrival available.” Check the official eligibility result for the traveller before booking a non-refundable itinerary.
Before you pay for a Delhi or Mumbai to Doha flight
- Check passport validity and Qatar entry eligibility.
- Confirm whether you are staying airside or entering Qatar.
- Check baggage-through arrangements if connecting onward.
- Confirm whether hotel or onward-ticket evidence is required.
- Compare arrival time with hotel check-in and ground transport.
